The climatic mean of the quasi-equilibrium state of PCOM spin-up run for (a) barotropic stream function (BSF), (c) sea surface height (SSH), (e) depth of thermocline (DTC), and (g) ocean heat content (OHC). DTC is defined as the depth of the $20^\circ C$ isotherm. The vectors in (a) are annual mean wind stress applied in the experiment. The comparison from SODA 2.1.6 and WOA09 are shown on the right column. The climatic mean is taken as the time-average of the 791-800 years of spin-up run in PCOM, and of 1961-1990 in SODA. DTC and OHC are calculated using the climatic mean temperature directly in WOA09. The spin-up run is started at a resting ocean with an initial field of temperature and salinity from WOA09.
